Firstly... you have amazing taste in books/authors! yay for all aussies loving Saving Francesca!
And secondly, is Good Omens good? Because I love Terry Pratchett & know Neil Gaiman is amazing (I have Stardust waiting for me to read when Uni is over) and I only came across Good Omens the other day but as soon as I saw those two wrote it I figured it had to be awesome!

Top 5 favourite books: A child called it - Dave Pelzer, Blade Silver: Color Me Scarred - ?, Anne Frank: The Diary of a Young Girl, Sense Of Evil- Kay Hooper, and, The Twilight Saga.
Would you be able to read a book a month? I read about five to ten books in a month.
Genres you enjoy reading: I basically enjoy reading anything, as long as it's written well. But I love romances.
Genres you would be interested in learning about: Hm, basically everything, because just when you think you know a genre, there's something else that gets thrown at you.
Genres you know you would never enjoy: I don't know really, but if I had to pick, probably Western.
Are you easily able to find books where you live or do you have difficulty finding books: I am easily able to find books.

Cathy: Ewanfunbol on October 25th, 2008 02:54 pm (UTC)
Name/Age/Location: Cathy/23/Belgium
Top 5 favourite books: 1. The Secret History by Donna Tartt / 2. My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult / 3. White Oleander by Janet Fitch / 4. Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden / 5. Wild Swans by Jung Chang - these may change positions every now and then. My number one has remained the same for about 6 years now though.
Would you be able to read a book a month? Well, I can definitely read a book a month but it'll be hard to keep up with the "assigned" choices I think. I have to make do with the library which unfortunately doesn't have any English books so not all options may be available. I buy a lot of books though (both in English and other languages) so I'm mostly keen on finding new books through here. If people enjoy reading a story and leave reviews, it's interesting to discover new authors.
Genres you enjoy reading: Basically anything except I don't like most things pertaining to history. Stories set in medieval times, wars, etc. are not my favourite. Also: vampires. I personally don't get the whole "Twilight" hype but I'm sure they're amazing books if you enjoy the genre.
Genres you would be interested in learning about: Strangely enough, I've only just discovered chick lit! And I'm big fan of romantic comedies - movie-wise - so it's weird I never thought to read books like it before.
Genres you know you would never enjoy: Again, the vampire thing.
Are you easily able to find books where you live or do you have difficulty finding books: Ah. I really should've read all the questions first before getting carried away with answering ahem. As mentioned above. I buy a lot of books (too many actually, must go on a budget!) and there's the library.
Would you be able to lead/enjoy leading a discussion for a book: Hmmm I'm not much of a leader person especially given the fact I'm pretty new to the whole book club thing. I probably just wouldn't know how to even start.
What book would you recommend members of the book club read: Depends on their taste. I find it hard recommending books but if anyone hasn't read it then...The Secret History, my personal favourite.
Anything else?

Top 5 favourite books: Oh, that's difficult, it changes a lot. The first that came into my mind are: Outlander by Diana Gabaldon, Sophies World by Jostein Gaarder, My sister's keeper by Jodi Picoult, The Lord of the Rings - series and Night Train to Lisbon by Pascal Mercier
Would you be able to read a book a month? Yes, I think I can do this.
Genres you enjoy reading: Nearly everything. It depends on my mood I am in and on the story itself.
Genres you would be interested in learning about: I am really open-minded, that's why I wanna learn about every genre. I take this club as a chance to read something I always wanted to, but never did, because you always pick genres you know you like.
Genres you know you would never enjoy: I think that would be science fiction.
Are you easily able to find books where you live or do you have difficulty finding books: I think it is not that difficult to find books here in germany. We do have some good bookstores and there is always Amazon, too ;)
Would you be able to lead/enjoy leading a discussion for a book: I don't know. I am not a leader type. But maybe I could do it, just let me find out how this club thing works.

Top 5 favourite books: Oh dear, too choose just five! I'm going to cheat a bit and say; besides the Harry Potter series and the Twilight series, my favourite novels are: The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë, Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit by Jeanette Winterson, Angels & Demons by Dan Brown and The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. Plus a few more...
Would you be able to read a book a month? I hope so but I cannot promise. It really depends on the month, mood, time and interest. Some months are harder for me when schoolwork takes a lot time, while others are easier (especially holidays) :)
Genres you enjoy reading: I like several different genres because it all depends on the book itself. The most common genre that I read is general fiction, classics, "chick-lit", young adult and fantasy.
Genres you would be interested in learning about: Mystery (never been fond of them but there has been one or two books that I have enjoyed), more classics, poetry/drama, more general chick-lit and romance.
Genres you know you would never enjoy: Horror. I'm such a chicken. I mean really, even though I LOVED the books, both the Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield and Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë, gave me the creeps for their gothic elements. Gothic I can handle, horror no. Oh and I haven't been very fond of Western or crime either.
Are you easily able to find books where you live or do you have difficulty finding books: If it's popular or well-known book, I usually have it easy to find. It varies.
Would you be able to lead/enjoy leading a discussion for a book: Only if I have read the book before...
What book would you recommend members of the book club read: Wow, I could make a whole list of them. One book that comes into mind though is The God of Small Things by Arundhati Roy.
Anything else? So many books, so little time :( Oh and I guess I could post this here as well but I have a goodreads profile which lists all the books that I have read and want to read -- click :)
